Place that I enjoyed visiting as a young child.

It was under the influence of my elder brother that I liked visiting this place. Village was not my place to be as I was born and raised in the city. Hence living with a brother I could not have any other choices therefore to go with him to the village during holidays was a must.

I did not have any idea of why he liked the village so much or perhaps just because he was born at the village that’s why he could not spent a month in the city without visiting.

This was a small village called kasote which was situated at the outskirt of Okavango region just a few meters from the kavango river. At the age of 6 I and my brother paid a visit to the village and to my surprise I enjoyed village life like never before. After a two weeks of stay at the village I met a boy by the name John he was my best friend I liked him for this reason we had the same personalities. Apart from John I also met three naughty boys Kangongo,Wambala and Yombi though they were elder then me I still call them naughty because every evening this three boys had I private gather and they would call me to teach them Afrikaans. They would say things in their vernacular language of which I did. Furthermore there were days they asked me to sing in Afrikaans.

My grandmother was one of those people that made my days at the village. She liked me more than her other granddaughters and grandsons and was hated by my fellow brother and sisters. I think she liked me because I didn’t stay close to her and she could only see me once or twice a year.

She was in her seventies yet she looked young and strong. She had three fields of crops of which she planted yams beside this she also had a mahangu field.

Image result for pictures of villages in namibiaI enjoyed village life and I was so angered when my brother told me the night before that we would be living the next day. This time around I didn’t have any reason to stay behind although I wanted to, because school was to commence within few days. After our arrival in Windhoek I could stop thinking of all the fun I had in fact the the love I received from my grandma. My grandma was my love. Village was the place I enjoyed visiting.
