Good life after struggle.
Thomas lived in a small town called Usakos about 15 years ago. He lived with her wife Taleni with their five years old daughter Sarafina.
Thomas was employed at a filling station in Karibib as a cashier while her wife could accumulate fire wood which she used for cooking as well as for light during night and she could sell some for an income. Karibib is a town situated 30 km east from Usakos. Thomas was commuting to and from work with a bicycle.
After being employed at the filling station for a period of five months he noticed that he worked overtime hence his income remained the same. He had a thought of resigning at times however because of his background he kept on working. Two years past Sarafina was enrolled at a government primary school. She was a very hard working girl and due to her commitment his father worked his fingers to the bone to help her.
However she was not told by her parents that she was awarded a bursary, they kept it as a secret because they wanted to surprise her.
On a Sunday night after dinner Thomas called her daughter together with her wife in the sitting room .Sarafina was scared because his father had never called her before. His father started by starring at her with wrinkles on his forehead as if Sarafina had done something wrong. And he eventually started the conversation and this were his words’’ Sarafina I have got for you a job and you will start working as soon as possible’’. she was browned off to hear this from his father and in a calm voice she replied’ ’daddy I had made it to university I would want to study further and I still want to become the TV presenter that I have been talking about all this years’’.
Her mother with a smile on her face whispered ’’my daughter we are aware about that but, the fact that we don’t have money to pay for you tution fees you should just start working so that we start saving. Sarafina was angered by this.
Amazingly his father told her that ‘young lady congratulations it’s time for you to fly’’. Her mum started laughing Sarafina was confused at the moment. She did not had an idea on what his father was talking about. He further told her that the Social Security Commission had award you a bursary to study further. Sarafina was very excited that she started packing her things and she was ready to go. This was probably her first time to have a flight.
Two days later she went to Tanzania. She studied for a four years honors degree in journalism and media. She experienced a lot and her four years of staying there became like twelve months. After completing her studies she returned to Namibia and was employed at NBC as a TV presenter.
After working at NBC for a year she bought for her parents a house in Swakopmund and she was transferred to work in Windhoek .Sarafina is now as wealthy as Bill Gates.
